A Totally different story!

Lantern Square is an exciting and comfortable, rustic bed and breakfast with self catering options. Centrally situated in the quiet part of the main street (Nojoli Street),  within a short walking distance of all the amenities and places of interest in the quaint and historic town of Somerset East, Eastern Cape.

It is a historic old home, built in the typical Karoo-style, facing the beautiful Boschberg mountain, with a courtyard in the middle and a “Cave” for dinners.

There are 3 different types of accommodation which differ from the ordinary Family units and a double room in the Mountain Rooms to the romantic Garden Rooms (converted old stables) and the “Cave” room of Kepe for the adventurous, in Kepe’s Quarters.

We play with lots of atmosphere, which includes pictures and stories of the 1940 – 50’s, images of the mountain where Kepe stayed, water and the history of the town.

All the rooms have their own private entrance and en-suite bathrooms.

We offer secured parking on the premises.

* Kepe was a notorious thief who escaped police custody for 12 years. We present dinners with exciting menu’s at Kepe’s Quarters to groups of 15 – 30 people, dramatising his story.

              Lantern Square offers ideal accommodation for tour and sport groups or family gatherings.
